Eikendal’s History:
Eikendal is one of the original 18 wine farms on the infamous Stellenbosch wine route in South Africa, consisting of 150 wineries today.
Purchased from a scrap metal dealer by a Swiss family in 1981, the original two farms became Eikendal vineyards. This initiated a vigorous replanting program and a modern cellar construction. Adding to the original Chenin blanc and Cinsault grapes, new wine varieties were introduced over the years such as Shiraz, Malbec and Semillon, with its current production ratio being 65% red and 35% white.
What sets Eikendal apart?
Eikendal Vineyards is not far from False Bay in Cape Town, nestled at the foot of the Helderberg mountains. The cooler conditions allow for a slower, more optimal ripening of the grapes. Fertile soil conditions and the cool breeze of the Atlantic naturally come together to create super premium wine. Eikendal is known for its world class Chardonnay.
